Crowd Director is a trusted and vendor-neutral service that enables content providers to configure and manage content delivery across multiple networks. CrowdDirector provides global load balancing, an integrated dashboard, monitoring and analytics across multiple CDNs, web servers, origins, and cloud providers (or anything attached to the Internet). CrowdDirector does not require installation or reconfiguration of any software or hardware component in the content provider’s own systems and network infrastructure. By simply registering and configuring the menu of CrowdDirector options, content providers can immediately begin to engage and manage multiple resources.

Compared to other CDNs and network resource management solutions, CrowdDirector provides content delivery management as a service with these key differentiating benefits:

  • Lowered costs – No software or hardware to be purchased or re-configured by the customer - eliminating up-front capital expenditures and ongoing operational costs.
  • Flexibility – Content owners can mix and match different network resources, providers, and locations to deliver the optimal service for their business needs.
  • Economies of scale – CrowdDirector scales to meet increased content requests so that rapid growth or unexpected spikes do not disrupt the response time for redirecting each request to the appropriate network resource.

Using the intelligent dashboard and rules-based engine, content providers can configure content delivery based on their specific business and quality needs and across disparate network resources, resulting in improved performance, reduced operational overhead, and consistent resiliency.

Content providers can also monitor network resource performance and reliability data through the CrowdDirector dashboard. Data is collected by actively polling specific network resources and utilizing passive monitors throughout the network. Information related to traffic, downtime, content caching, and latency is continuously collected, logged, and analyzed. The data is accessed by the rules engine when a request invokes a rule parameter related to network conditions. The data is also available in several formats for report generation and analysis.
